Amateur bakers: show off your creative bread baking skills in this national recipe contest that has gone virtual this year! Enter by February 22, 2021. Here are the details on entering and prizes:
How to enter:
Submit your original yeast bread recipe with a color photo in one of the following categories open to adults (19 years and older) : “Savory Rolls“, “Sweet Bread/Rolls“, or “Traditional Breads“. There are also two categories open to entries from youths (ages 14 to 18) : “Sweet Rolls” or “Creative Bread Shape” (edible yeast bread sculpture). Include recipe inspiration and your photo. PLEASE NOTE that recipes must include KING ARTHUR unbleached wheat flour (at least 75% of the flour used in the recipe; see rules for flour varieties you may use) and a RED STAR Yeast product (any variety).
Judging and selecting the winners:
Each recipe will be reviewed by a qualified panel of food experts and then selected recipes will be test baked (expect the creative bread shape category). The recipes will be judged on “taste and quality”, “appearance, artistic flair, and shaping”, “recipe and photo”, and “nutritional value and healthfulness”. Creative bread shape category judged on separate criteria (see rules).
Prizes! Here’s what you can win:
Three ADULT CATEGORY PRIZES (one winner per category): $2,000 cash prize (awarded as a check) and a “Baking Bundle” from contest Sponsors (ERV $250).
Overall “BEST OF BREADS” Champion (selected from the three category winners): a year’s supply of Red Star Yeast; a year’s supply of King Arthur Flour; and a $500 King Arthur Baking Company Gift Card that may be used towards a baking class.
Two YOUTH CATEGORY PRIZES (one winner per category): $500 cash prize (awarded as a check) and a “Baking Bundle” from contest Sponsors (ERV $250).
People’s Choice Prize Awards (one winner from each Adult and Youth category, voted for online by the public): Bakeware (estimated value $100 each).
Who can enter this contest?:
This cooking competition is open to ADULT amateur home bakers who are 19 years of age and older, and YOUTH beginner home bakers who are 14 to 18 years of age at the time of contest entry. Entrants must be a legal United States resident residing in one of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia. (To qualify as an amateur, must not make the major portion of your income by baking bread.)
How many recipes can I enter?:
Each entrant may enter as many original recipes as they wish (but can only be eligible to become a category winner with one recipe). Each recipe submitted must be different.
